Samurai Star is a star-like arrangement of five Sudoku puzzles that when put together form a much larger puzzle.
The aim is simple: place the digits 1 to 9 into every bold-lined 3x3 box and every bold-line-edged row or column of 9 squares. In other words, it is equivalent to five individual Sudoku puzzles overlaid one on top of another - but they must all be solved simultaneously in order to complete the puzzle.
There is only ever one solution, and guessing is never required. Because of the tight overlay of the five grids, there are some new solving 'rules' you can use to help you make rapid progress on these puzzles. This means they make a great change even for experienced Sudoku players.
